To be honest, we have never heard of Jiyugaoka before until it was reviewed on NHK. Since we did our research of this neighborhood, Jiyugaoka climbed up and made it into our must-visit list. I've been wanting to post this day sooner because I'm too excited to share all about Jiyugaoka. So peaceful, quiet and comforting with so many beautiful places to stop by.
First stop of the day, BAKE! Bake is recognized for their amazing cheese tarts. It started as a western confectionary store in Sapporo and has been growing ever since. Even though we came quite early, there was already a line up.
Queueing in Japan has never been a problem. Japanese people are so nice & respectful. When we queued, a kind lady offered an older woman in front of her to take care of her dog so she could get inside to buy cheese tarts. This is only one of the so many stories we had of how nice Japanese people can be. We truly experienced a lot of unforgettable memories.
Japanese soft serve is the best but Bake’s soft serve is the finest of ‘em all. The creaminess level is exceptional!! If you're like me, then drop by just for this ice cream. Bake's soft serve surely stole all the attention away.
We would rate this cheese tart 8.5 out of 10. It was definitely a delicious creamy cheese tart but we were expecting a lil' bit more considering all the good remarks people had been telling us. All the tarts are at room temperature when we ate them, it would probably be a 10 if we ate them while the cheese tarts were still warm. We will definitely buy them again!
Soup stock has a lot of outlets all across Japan. On our previous visit to Japan in 2015 we've always been interested to the pleasant fragrance every time we passed it by yet we always skipped the chance, as well as this time cause we were in a hurry. Hopefully another time.
La Vita, little Venice in Jiyugaoka, this is the place that attract us the most and the reason of why Jiyugaoka made it into our must-visit list.
Just outside of La Vita, beautiful old houses and stores are everywhere to be found. Like this store below, Puppily Hills provides grooming services for dogs and sells dog clothes & accessories. Even a dog supplies store is exquisite and smells amazing.
Completely forgot to take pictures of what's inside so we took this image below from their official website to show you all these cute dog apparels & accessories they sell.
Vintage Japanese residence.
The moment Potato Cream was reviewed on NHK, we took a brief look and thought it was an ice cream. Turned out it was a mashed potato with different sauces, I mean, duh, the name is so obvious yet we thought it was an ice cream.
Out of all the tempting choices, we decided to go with two of their best-sellers which are tomato cream sauce with minced meat and gorgonzola cream sauce with chicken. The mashed potato is very smooth and creamy. We all love the gorgonzola cream sauce!!
